Love yourself

Image
A heavenly warmth settled in my belly. It finally clicked. To love truly I need to love myself. Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’Matthew 22:37 - 39 Our passions and dreams may lead us to lonely places - away from the crowd. It is perfectly okay!  Find the truth, Follow the truth, Rest in that truth. That truth for me is Jesus. Fancy that my aha! moment was packaged in a song I listened to growing up. God's sense of humor is always a class apart. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be Everybody's searching for a hero People need someone to look up to I

A day in the life of a fly

Image
Whee! It's that time again. Time to crawl out into the warmth. Stretch, shake your wings. Aah! The wind feels good. Look at the colorful flowers; green, red, yellow, blue, purple. Wait a minute, what is that? I can land on air?, This is magic. Look! It's holding a sea of, of, is that gold? blood? Lick, lick, this is tasty. Oh oh, there is a larger presence around here, I can sense it. Fly away! OK now it's safe to return, I could stay licking this all day you know. Oh oh oh no! Into the sea I faaaall . I'm drowning, kick, kick, flap flap, oh dear, this is it. I'm drowning in the sea of sweet gold. Just then he looks down and realizes the creature in his drink and exclaims, "uh! these flies!!" Swoosh! He flashes the apple juice down the sink, rinses the glass and pours out some more juice. Meanwhile "phew!" it shakes out it's heavy wet wings and drugs itself to the side. "That was a close call" But He rinses the sink

Queer events and the Bible

Image
Humanity  tends to shun actions that don't fit acceptable social behavior, rebels are either alienated or ridiculed to cause them shame and steer the said individuals back on track. Their actions are repulsive and intriguing, we shun them but at the same time, we are curious to know what drives them. We judge them. We assume their faces will take on a different form. We peer into their eyes with the hope that shame will stare right back, that we will spot the darkness in their souls. To our disappointment, they look just like us. And with that, I will dive into the source of these philosophical ideas. I was invited to watch a documentary filmed in Uganda - "Call me Kuchu". I couldn't for the life of me decipher what kuchu meant. I had not heard the word used in any of the local languages but the bio of the key note speaker hinted to the subject of discussion. My stomach knotted like the sisal ropes in Kumi.

The Moon and Eye

Over the passed few weeks I have taken pictures of the moon. It is an incredible piece of God's creation: Beautiful. Majestic. Calm. Elegant. Gentle. Steady. Bright. Perfectly shaped. Full moon Moon behind branches Half moon - simply incredible Crescent moon through branches
