The journey home after a long day at work can unravel in the most unsuspecting ways as it did today.
I boarded the already packed cart and scooted in far enough to avoid getting sandwiched between the closing doors. An old man who boarded at the next train stop (Foggy bottom) was not so lucky, he had to hold and squeeze through as the doors came forcefully together. You see, the train doors are not people sensitive, when they come together, you need to get out of the way. He scrapped through unscathed but in his rush caused commotion, pushing the already jammed, exhausted, I-must-get-home-immediately passengers further inside. In an audible and upset tone one man looked at him and said "Oh! come on man! there are several trains coming behind us. Why didn't you just wait?" He rolled his eyes and puffed like a boiling kettle. Still reminiscing his narrow escape, the old man stared back perplexed. "We all want to get home, don't we?!" The miffed man turned away. Passengers raised eyebrows and exchanged glances. Conversations between strangers begun in soft tones.
As we neared Court house the lady to my right leaned forward, from the reactions in front of me something was not right. She leaned in further and I grabbed her arm, she was losing control, going down. I held her firm and suggested she be given a seat while someone yelled "press the emergency button!". Immediately a man shouted "No! You need to get her off the train!" the doors opened and passengers off boarding carried her along. She had passed out and was lying flat on the floor. They raised her head onto the soft spot of her bag while attempting to get information for an emergency contact. The rest of us watched silently. The train doors closed. We had to get home.
Two stops later, two gentlemen boarded and one exclaimed "There seem to be more people going home than go to work in the morning" I couldn't help but smile.
We were still huddled close together when the heavy man standing in front of me got into a groove, the music sipping through his ear phones was pumping in his veins. He bobbed his head more furiously and the rest of his body joined in. Now, it was bad enough that we were in such close quarters but the extra movement made the situation a tad more ... shall we say complicated?
At West falls church a quarter of the passengers alighted and I was able to get a seat. The man next to me exclaimed "Now, that is a lot better" I nodded in agreement. He'd boarded the train before I did and had witnessed the events; the angry man, the fainting lady, the remarks...
He suspected the fainting woman had a medical condition. He ruled out hunger saying that usually happened in the morning when one left home on an empty stomach. He then proceeded to share how his daughter had fainting bouts and was diagnosed with P.O.T.S. He also told me about an app that sends updates on the Metro train schedule in case of delays and other news.In the space of 30 minutes I had not only seen an upset man and a fainting woman but I learned about a disease I had never heard of before and learned there was an app for Metro updates.
Enough for one day!

Love yourself
A heavenly warmth settled in my belly. It finally clicked.
To love truly I need to love myself.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’Matthew 22:37 - 39
Our passions and dreams may lead us to lonely places - away from the crowd. It is perfectly okay!
Find the truth, Follow the truth, Rest in that truth. That truth for me is Jesus.
Fancy that my aha! moment was packaged in a song I listened to growing up. God's sense of humor is always a class apart.
I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do.
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on me
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
And if, by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

A day in the life of a fly
Whee! It's that time again. Time to crawl out into the warmth.
Stretch, shake your wings.
Aah! The wind feels good. Look at the colorful flowers; green, red, yellow, blue, purple. Wait a minute, what is that? I can land on air?, This is magic. Look! It's holding a sea of, of, is that gold? blood?
Lick, lick, this is tasty.
Oh oh, there is a larger presence around here, I can sense it. Fly away!
OK now it's safe to return, I could stay licking this all day you know.
Oh oh oh no! Into the sea I faaaall. I'm drowning, kick, kick, flap flap, oh dear, this is it. I'm drowning in the sea of sweet gold.
Just then he looks down and realizes the creature in his drink and exclaims, "uh! these flies!!"
Swoosh! He flashes the apple juice down the sink, rinses the glass and pours out some more juice.
Meanwhile
"phew!" it shakes out it's heavy wet wings and drugs itself to the side.
"That was a close call"
But
He rinses the sink and "whoa!" it's a roller coaster ride down the drraaaaain.
The end.
You've got to watch this trailer to the end. The fruit fly is my absolute favorite.
"When I grow up, I'm gonna wish, I had done more with my life sonny"

Queer events and the Bible
Humanity tends to shun actions that don't fit acceptable social behavior, rebels are either alienated or ridiculed to cause them shame and steer the said individuals back on track. Their actions are repulsive and intriguing, we shun them but at the same time, we are curious to know what drives them. We judge them. We assume their faces will take on a different form. We peer into their eyes with the hope that shame will stare right back, that we will spot the darkness in their souls. To our disappointment, they look just like us.
And with that, I will dive into the source of these philosophical ideas.
I was invited to watch a documentary filmed in Uganda - "Call me Kuchu". I couldn't for the life of me decipher what kuchu meant. I had not heard the word used in any of the local languages but the bio of the key note speaker hinted to the subject of discussion.
My stomach knotted like the sisal ropes in Kumi.

The Moon and Eye

HAPPY EASTER!
Your eyes locked in a loving gaze
Words were not necessary - You had been chosen
Papa’s heart was breaking but you knew It had to be done.
A decision soaked in Love and Mercy,
Grace and Compassion,
Sorrow and Pain,
And Passion – a mission!
Wrapped in swaddling cloth and held in the delicate but firm hands of a maiden.
Though she was naïve and inexperienced you saw obedience, desire and wisdom.
How did you feel dressed in human flesh? - A “made-in-your-likeness” baby?
You! Perfectly God yet perfectly man.
32 years on, your purpose unfolded
12 simple men by your side, questioning, always questioning,
Crowds following, some smiling, some sneering
Ladies reaching for your cloak, emptying perfume jars on your feet,
Eager to hear you, feed you and wash your feet with their tears.
The donkey and the Palms
The 12 simple men at the dinner
The garden – bleeding with sorrow
The betrayal
The interrogation
The denial
The crown of thorns
The flogging
The wood plunks, heavy on your back
The excruciating journey up the hill
The nails in your hands and feet
The gush in your side
Aaaah!
Papa turned away
Deserted you to bear it all
You became sin, but you hadn’t sinned
Alone, wounded, mocked, despised
The last breath and you were gone.
What happened down under?
What did you there?
What did you see?
Three days later
You came forth
The stone was rolled away
The BATTLE won
You took the keys of death and hell
Now I immerse myself in your blood,
I use your Name – the password to Life
Your obedience paid my ransom - bought my freedom
You are coming again, do not tarry I pray
But that I would be ready when you return.
