Random thoughts
After church, two Sundays back Sam, Mich and I went to Mac Donald's for lunch. We ordered a big mac, a kids meal and a big n'tasty burger respectively. Half way through my burger I gave up, it was so 'not tasty'. It seemed like they had sucked out all the juicy nutrients and then served me what used to be meat. Then they make up for it with all sorts of toppings- ketchup, mayonnaise e.t.c
The fries were miserable too, I don't know what they do to the Irish potatoes but they sure don't take like Irish (potatoes). They are so thin and dry, like the oil used drains the poor vegetables of their personality, and no, I'm not a 'meat-erian'.
I guess they are not to blame seeing as they have been sued in the past for 'making people fat'.
To date I haven't eaten a burger that comes close to the yummy stuff in Dominos UG. Those guys just know how to do it. If I'm going to eat a burger give me the real deal, not a sorry excuse.
Aah! it's spring break and we don't know what to do with the free week, can you imagine?!.

African Dance
Just the other day we were celebrating Christmas and now we are facing Easter and soon it will be Christmas again.
Anyway a little bit of an update on my dancing quests. I told you how I went for a salsa audition, well I didn't make it. Turns out that almost all the people I danced with had taking salsa classes. I wasn't up to par but that's ok. I'm thinking of taking some classes so I can polish up, you never know when the skill might be required.
Since I didn't get it I decided to try out for the African dance, now that is more in my league. We had our fast practice today and it was so much fun.
First of all we were only five Africans, including the black Americans. The rest, fifteen or so of them were from every where else. It was a wonderful representation of Asia and Europe, we had Indians, Japanese, Israelis,Americans and some I couldn't quite make out.
Now when I say African dance, I'm talking about West African pretty much. It involves shaking the waist and other parts of the body which normally shouldn't be moving. Lets just say I was riding on being African and the talent that God gave me.
Just getting people to understand the strokes was hilarious. The instructor had to go way beyond the basics to, "put this leg here, then move in this direction, then you lift your hand like this...".
Aaaah! this is fun.
I'll keep you posted on how things go, so far I wouldn't want anyone I know see me do some the strokes because things are tight. I keep telling my self, this is a once in a life time thing so I might as well make the most of it.

The Anchor Holds
"The Anchor Holds".
Words and music by Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz
I have journeyed
Through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea
By faith alone
Sight unknown
And yet His eyes were watching me
CHORUS:
The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees
As I faced the raging seas
The anchor holds
In spite of the storm
Ive had visions
Ive had dreams
Ive even held them in my hand
But I never knew
They would slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand
CHORUS
I have been young
But I am older now
And there has been beauty
That these eyes have seen
But it was in the night
Through the storms of my life
Oh, thats where God proved
His love to me
CHORUS (repeat)

Birthday Boy
So I reminded him about his birthday last night and he was really excited. He said "mummy, I thought my birthday would never come". He has certainly been waiting a long time, what with all the parties he has been attending.
When asked what he wanted for his birthday he said sugar, sweets and cake. I found that hillarious and yet very sincere, those are the things he loves.
Lately the sugar bowl has been disappearing from the kitchen cupboard, then it appears under bed covers, what do you know???
Just before I left his room he said, "but I need some presents", so I asked, like what? he said "uhmm, like a parashooter", don't ask me what that is because Sam and I are still trying to decode that one. The more farmiliar things were, a submarine (whatever for?), spiderman, batman and the power rangers.
We gave him a good surprise this morning, snuck into his room and just as he was stiring we begun to sing.
Then he got to share his cake with his class mates.

Jesus Bring The Rain
I have had people ask me how I can be happy and talk about God with such tenderness even with all I have gone through. It's hard to explain sometimes but I really know that God is a good God and He has the best for me.
I continue to pray, "I would rather not go through these tough circumstances but if all this is so that your name is glorified, bring it on. ".
Obviously thinking about Nziiza and Kwizera still brings tears to my eyes (sometimes) but more than that it brings Jesus even closer. He continues to be the center of my focus, I accept whatever He brings the good and the not so good.
One day I heard this song on the radio and my expression was "what??, someone put these words to a song?!" absolutely amazing.
"Bring The Rain" by Mercyme
I can count a million times
People asking me how I Can praise You with all that I've gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly Change who I forever am in You
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through these times
So I pray
Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain
I am Yours regardless of The dark clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what's a little rain
So I pray
Holy, holy, holy Is the Lord God Almighty
