The Val' party

You know? I found out that valentines day is sweet after all, (quite apart from all the candy), it's a fun day in children's lives.I have decided that it's best enjoyed in pre-k and kindergarten after that things take a different turn.
Mich had a valentines party at his school today, you should have seen his classroom. It was decorated with all sorts of cute things, balloons, flowers, candy, red ribbons, candy, oh and candy :-). Mich said "mummy on valentines day you get so many candies, you can't even eat them all in one day". True, I nodded to that.
All the kids were dressed in red except my main man (too much maalo on our part), thankfully he didn't notice, he was really excited about the day.
Mich got some interesting presents, I thought they were creative, cute and curious.

The Peeping Petticoat

Petticoats! Remember them? If you landed on this planet after the 90's you'll probably wonder what I refer to and no! it is not some fancy coat worn on top of a boob tube. Petticoats or half-slips are little nylon skirts worn as undergarments. Sound like the dark ages? Yeah, like who would wear extra clothes in the African heat? Probably explains why they were made of nylon and light cotton material. It was an essential item on every school girls shopping list next to Always and Vaseline. These skirts were everywhere; in suitcases, hanging up on a bathroom peg, sometimes they showed up on the clothes line outside; black and white - the two most preferred colors. You guys’, Heathrow airport is huge like this. It is oba the size of Soroti city ? You haven’t been to Soroti city? What’s your excuse? I will wait. If you have friends from Soroti and you’ve not visited their home… You know where I’m going with that, in fact, let me go there.
